The 6061 aluminum alloy plate is the cheapest and most versatile of the heat treatable 6061 aluminum alloy plates. It has most of the high quality aluminum with a range of good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. It can be manufactured using the most common techniques, including welding and furnace brazing. In the annealed state, it has good processability. The full performance of the T6 can be obtained by artificial aging. 6061 grade aluminum is used in a variety of products and applications from truck bodies and frames to mechanical parts and structural components. 6061 is used in applications where appearance and better corrosion resistance and strength are required.
6061 aluminum alloy plate is the most widely used and most versatile of heat treatable alloys. This forged tool plate has excellent machinability, weldability and medium strength. Although not as strong as most 2xxx and 7xxx alloys, 6061 is typically selected for applications requiring soldering or brazing or due to its high corrosion resistance in all tempered conditions. It has excellent joining properties, good acceptability for anodizing, and easy cold working and forming under annealing conditions.
It is usually provided in pre-tempered grades (eg 6061-O (annealing)) and tempering grades (eg 6061-T6 (solid solution and artificial aging) and 6061-T651 (solid solution, stress-relieving stretching and artificial aging) .
The maximum tensile strength of the annealed 6061 (6061-O tempered) does not exceed 120 MPa (18,000 psi) and the maximum yield strength does not exceed 55 MPa (8,000 psi). The elongation of the material (stretch before ultimate failure) is 25% to 30%.
The T4 tempered 6061 has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 210 MPa (30,000 psi) and a yield strength of at least 110 MPa (16,000 psi). The elongation is 16%.
The main elements in the aluminum plate 6061 are Mg and Si, which have medium strength, good corrosion resistance and weldability. The 6061 alloy can be applied to an enamel and anodized for use as a building decoration material. 6061 Aluminum plate is widely used in various industrial structures with certain strength and high antimicrobial properties, such as manufacturing trucks, buildings, ships, trains, furniture, mechanical parts, precision machining and so on.
6061 Aluminum sheet has some differences between T6 and T651. In general, the internal stress of T6 is very large, and it will be deformed when processing 6061 alloy. For the 6061 alloy, the most suitable processing conditions should be T651 and stretched on the basis of T6 to eliminate internal stress.
