Generally there are two steps: cutting and punching. Cutting refers to cutting raw material of sheets into pieces of given size so that it's more convenient for the punch press to produce aluminum round circles of precise thickness and sizes.

Although there are thousands of aluminium circle suppliers in a country, not to mention in the world, the processes they adopt mainly fall on two types. The first is based on a simple production line consisting of a decoiling unit (for suppliers using aluminium coil rolls rather than sheets as raw materials), a cutting unit and a punch press. The scale of the line varies from supplier to supplier in accordance to their capacities. This type, however, is suitable for only smaller suppliers. Large aluminium circle discs suppliers tend to choose a fully automatic production line, which is composed of a feeding unit, a decoiler, a punch press and a stacking machine. The line can directly punch and blank the wafer on the aluminum coil without cutting or slitting. It yields circles of diameters from 10mm to 3000mm, fully meeting requirements of supplying aluminum wafers of all regular sizes.
